After struggling to get through an FCS school last week in Towson, the Maryland Terrapins head to Georgia to take on the high powered Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as 14 point dogs. While the Terps beat Towson 28-3, the game was much closer than the score indicated. Maryland had trouble getting Towson off the field and stopping the run.
The fact that Maryland struggled so much to stop the run is what makes the fact that they're only 14 point dogs on the road look a bit odd. If there is one thing Georgia Tech can do well, it's run the football with their triple option offense. Georgia Tech running back Orwin Smith averages 15.1 yards per carry... on the season. So far on the year, Tech is 4-0-1 against the spread while Maryland is just 1-3. Maryland was a 26 point favorite last week against Towson and struggled to beat them by 25. The over/under for the game is set at only 61 points, even with Georgia Tech sporting one of the highest scoring offenses in the country.
