Tajh Boyd Injury Update: Clemson QB 'Probable' To Play Vs. Maryland, Coach Says

It appears that, barring a turn for the worse, Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd will be the starter come game time next Saturday against the Maryland Terrapins. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney stopped just short of saying Boyd would play, but said that he is likely to play.

"We're very fortunate and thankful that it looks like he's going to be fine. He's definitely probable for this game."

Boyd has thrown for 1,742 yards and 15 touchdowns with only two interceptions on the season and is one of the leading contenders for the Heisman Trophy. His backup is true freshman Cole Stoudt, who has seen action in all of two games this season, completing 7 of 11 passes for 44 yards. Obviously, the difference in who suits up for the Tigers is substantial.

Boyd was injured in the third quarter of Saturday's game against Boston College and had to be carted off the field. He did not return and received an MRI that came back negative. Swinney went on to say that he thinks the injury wouldn't have been as significant if Boyd had been wearing a hip pad, and that most of the pain was actually in his thigh, not his hip.
