The Maryland Terrapins' opener in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off tournament did not go nearly as well as planned. The Terps couldn't shoot straight all game and were blown out in a 62-42 loss to No. 16 Alabama, a game that was never close after the opening stages. The Terps will now play the loser of Wichita State vs. Colorado on Friday.

Alabama jumped out to a 17-5 lead to begin the game and it was over from there. The Crimson Tide took a 16-point halftime lead, and the Terps never got any closer than that in the second half.

Tony Mitchell led the way for Alabama with 17 points and nine rebounds, including a thunderous dunk off a rebound in the second half. James Padgett had nine point to lead the Terps, who shot just 27 percent from the field in the loss.
