Puerto Rico Tip-Off: Maryland To Face Colorado After Buffs Fall To Wichita State

After being blown out by Alabama in their opening game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, the Terps will come back on the second day of the early season holiday tournament to face another big six BCS conference foe – the Colorado Buffaloes out of the Pac 12.

The Buffs fell to Missouri Valley mid-major Wichita State, 67-58 in San Juan. The Shockers blitzed Colorado at the end of the first half and the start of the second half to cruise to the nine point win. Wichita State is expected to challenge for an NCAA tournament bid this season, playing in one of the top mid-major multi-bid conferences in the country.

Colorado was led by Utah transfer Carlon Brown, who dropped 15 points on the Shockers and was the Buffs’ only double digit scorer. Colorado committed 17 turnovers and shot under 60 percent from the free throw line in the loss. Colorado is expected to finish in the bottom half of what was projected to be the worst major conference in the country this season. After scoring only 42 points, the Terps and Mark Turgeon will look to bounce back and get their second win of the season. Tipoff is set for 6:30 in San Juan.
