At halftime of their final game in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, the Maryland Terrapins trail the Iona Gaels, 37-34. A late push at the end of the first half cut the Gaels' lead from double digits to three. Iona is a talented mid-major team that is fully capable of challenging for an NCAA at-large berth. They lost by only one to Purdue on Friday night in San Juan and were in complete control throughout the first half on Sunday until the Terps made their final minute push to get back in it.
The Terps shot the ball extremely well, converting 62% from the floor. Turnovers, however, plagued Maryland and allowed Iona to jump out to a comfortable lead for most of the half. Maryland finished the half with an amazing 16 turnovers.
After his career high 32 points on Friday, Terrell Stoglin leads the Terps with 9 points. Stoglin finished his the half with a dynamic and-one three point play which cut Iona's lead to three. The Terps will look to get out of Puerto Rico with a 2-1 record in the second half.
