Maryland Vs. Northwood: Mark Turgeon Era Begins As Maryland Wins, 89-84

It wasn't the most impressive performance, but for new Maryland basketball coach Mark Turgeon, a win is a win. The new Maryland basketball coach shepherded his rebuilt team to an 89-84 win over NAIA power Northwood (FL) on Friday in an exhibition game at Comcast Center.

The Terps led by double digits for most of the way, but got sloppy towards the end, allowing Northwood, coached by former Villanova legend Rollie Massimino, to cut the lead down to single digits. The game got as close as five points, but Maryland was able to get the win.

Sophomore guard Terrell Stoglin shook off a slow start and an early second-half benching to score 23 points to lead the Terps. Freshman Nick Faust was impressive as well, even putting in a 75-foot shot to close the first half.
