The Toledo Rockets have named their captains for the 2011 Military Bowl against the Air Force Falcons, reports Zach Silka of the Toledo Blade. As they've done for each of the last two seasons, the Rockets vote on their team captains on a weekly basis "to reward hard work and dedication in practice."
The four players they chose to serve as captain in the Military Bowl are defensive end Jonathan Lamb, cornerback Desmond Marrow, running back Adonis Thomas, and offensive lineman Mike VanDerMeulen. Each is a senior, because, as Sila explains, the team wanted to pay "tribute" to them in their final game at the collegiate level.
"You couldn't have picked four better guys to be captains for this football team," said Toledo coach Matt Camp.
The 2011 Military Bowl is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec.28, at 4:30 PM. ESPN and ESPN3.com will provide television coverage.
