In a bowl game start started with a flurry of action and points, it ended in just as exciting fashion. The Toledo Rockets and Air Force Falcons entered the fourth quarter tied 35-35 and as the final quarter progressed, the game looked destined for overtime. Late in the fourth quarter, Terrance Owens connected with Bernard Reedy on the sideline. Reedy broke a tackle and then turned on the jets cutting up field for the 33-yard touchdown catch, putting Toledo up 42-35.
Air Force once again began to battle back from a deficit, driving down the field after picking up another turnover. On fourth and two with just under a minute left in the game, Tim Jefferson connected with Zack Kauth for a 33-yard touchdown. On the play action, Kauth got behind the defense as the Toledo defensive back fell down for the easy score. Instead of playing for overtime, Air Force went for the fake extra point and nearly had it. The holder picked up the ball and ran off tackle only to have the ball knocked out and bounce out of bounds. Had the holder not fumbled, Air Force would have gotten the two-point conversion and the lead.
After a failed onside kick, Toledo walks away with the 2011 Military Bowl trophy.
