Toledo Vs. Air Force, 2011 Military Bowl: Recap And Score

The Toledo Rockets won the 2011 Military Bowl 42-41 over the Air Force after the Academy tried to convert a two point conversion that would have given them a one-point lead late in the fourth quarter.

There were a a few stars of this game for Toledo. Eric Page, as he has done all year, was a consistent threat catching the ball. He had 13 receptions and threw in a 87-yard kickoff return for good measure. Bernard Reedy was actually rhe most effective receiver, hauling in four passes for 126 yards and a remarkable 3 touchdowns, including the go ahead score late in the game. Here is some reaction from our Mac blog Hustle Belt.

The win ushers in the Matt Campbell era on the right foot, even if that foot was nice and comfortable in the press box (For the record, Campbell said he stayed in the booth because that's where he was all year, and didn't want to change too much for the players. Hell, it worked, didn't it?). It also improves Toledo to a 9-3 all-time bowl record, and it gives the MAC their third bowl win. We'll have to wait until January to see if Northern Illinois can make it four.
