The 2011 BB&T Classic will take place on Sunday at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. with a pair of intriguing matchups involving local teams. George Washington and Maryland are both in action with intriguing tests against strong competition.
The action begins when George Washington takes on Virginia Commonwealth, last year's surprise Final Four participant. The Rams have struggled this year, with three losses already. However, all three losses were to strong teams, and the Rams were able to rout South Florida in their last game. George Washington is coming off a loss to undefeated Kansas State on the road, but has been impressive otherwise. That game will get underway at 2:15.
Following that game, the Terps will look to bounce back from last week's loss to Illinois when they take on Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish have also struggled after heavy graduation losses and the shocking loss of senior Tim Abromaitis to a knee injury earlier in the season, as they are 5-3 on the season. That game will begin 30 minutes after the first one is completed.
