In a major surprise, Virginia Tech will participate in a BCS Bowl after all, even with its 38-10 ACC Championship Game loss to Clemson. The Hokies will play in the 2012 Sugar Bowl, according to Bryan D. Fisher. This contradicts an earlier report that suggests the Hokies would go to the Chick Fil-A Bowl.
The Hokies lost twice all year, both to Clemson. However, most suspected their lack of marquee wins would doom them further down the bowl picture. Instead, the ACC will get two teams in the BCS.
The Hokies' ascension means Virginia will replace them in the Chick-Fil A Bowl. It remains unclear who the Hokies would play in the Sugar Bowl.
Game date, time: 8:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, January 3, 2012
Location: Superdome in New Orleans, La.
TV channel: ESPN
2011 winner and loser: Ohio State, Arkansas
