Maryland Vs. N.C. State: Terps Defeat Wolfpack 87-80 To Keep Slim Tournament Hopes Alive

It wasn't easy, but thanks to some strong individual performances from players not named Jordan Williams, the Maryland Terrapins defeated the N.C. State Wolfpack by the score of 87-80.

On a night where Greivis Vasquez' jersey was honored, the Terps responded with a win that may have potentially saved their season.

Although Williams had another strong game (26 points, 8 rebounds), it was a freshmen who stole the show. First year guard Terrell Stoglin tied a career high with 25 points to go along with 9 assists. Add to that a career performance from senior Dino Gregory (career high 18 points and 10 rebounds), and that spells a balanced offensive attack for Maryland.

The game started well for the Terps, as they were able to take a double digit lead early in the half. However, a 14-0 N.C. State run gave the Wolfpack the lead going into halftime. In the second half, Maryland slowly began to take control, picking up the pressure on defense and shooting at a high percentage rate. They were able to protect the ball, something they were unable to during The Wolfpack's 14-0 run in the first half.

This win keeps the Terps' slim postseason hopes alive, and with crucial ACC games against Florida State and North Carolina, they know they cannot afford another loss the rest of the way.
