The one thing Randy Edsall has to do above all others is to appease fans of the University of Maryland is to get the elite local talent to stay home. Too many of the best players in the area go to other schools around the Country, instead of playing for their home town team.
↵Edsall just went on 106.7 the Fan and gave a sample pitch that he might deliver to a local recruit, via Dan Steinberg at the Washington Post.
↵↵↵"Well, the reason you should come here is because anything you ever dreamed of as a young man, as a kid, you can accomplish here," Edsall said. "You want to be an all-American? You can do it. You want to be all-ACC? You can do it. You want to win the ACC championship? You can do it. You can win a national championship here. But most importantly, you're gonna be able to do it at home"

There's much more, but that's the most interesting part. Edsall already ready to promise the Natty? I like the boldness, but I'm not sure how many recruits can believe that. His pitch sounds pretty standard, but I think he is charismatic enough to get local talent to believe it. Let's maybe give it a few years before you start promising the Big One.
