Boston College, as expected, had little trouble with Wake Forest in the first round of the 2011 ACC Tournament. The Eagles built an early 15-point lead with a 20-4 run and never led by fewer than 11 points thereafter in defeating the Demon Deacons, 81-67.
This will set up a key NCAA Tournament bubble showdown between the Eagles and No. 4 seed Clemson. Clemson is 20-10, while Boston College is 19-11, but the Eagles have played much better recently. The winner may have their NCAA ticket punched.
Reggie Jackson scored 27 points to lead the Eagles, who shot 54 percent from the field. Joe Trapani added 22 points and Biko Paris added 21 to aid the cause. Travis McKie scored 16 points to lead Wake Forest.
Wake Forest ends its season at 8-24, with just one win in conference play. It's safe to say that the Demon Deacons are one of the worst ACC teams in recent memory.
