Miami has been a part of two completely improbable games so far in the 2011 ACC Tourament. They won the first one against Virginia yesterday, but they were not as fortunate against North Carolina. With the game tied at 59, North Carolina's center Tyler Zeller scored a layup as time expired for a 61-59 victory. It was the Tar Heels' first lead of the game.
For 75% of this game, UNC looked absolutely horrible. They were turning the ball over an incredible amount, and they were having trouble putting the ball in the hoop. But late in the second half they started to find their range from deep, and they slowly crawled back into the game. Kendall Marshall, not typically known as a three-point shooter, hit two huge shots from beyond the arc to help spur their run. He also finished the game with eight assists.
As for Miami, they just weren't making the shots in the second half that they were in the first half. Frankly they looked about as bad on offense in the later part of the second half as UNC looked in the first half. When the game was on the line, both of these teams played like the teams we were expecting coming in. Even if UNC was only the better team for ten minutes of game time, it was good enough to advance in the ACC Tournament.
