ACC Tournament 2011: Duke Defeats Virginia Tech, 77-63, Advances To Final

Virginia Tech's run in the 2011 ACC Tournament has ended. The Hokies fell meekly to Duke, 77-63, and will now wait to see if they have done enough to secure an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Nolan Smith shook off a toe injury to score 27 points to lead the Blue Devils, who trailed for only one minute and 12 seconds in the entire game. Malcolm Delaney led Virginia Tech with 19 points, and Erick Green added 17. Jeff Allen struggled mightily against Duke's front line, shooting just 1-7 from the field, fouling out early, throwing an elbow in Kyle Singler's face and throwing a ball off Andre Dawkins' head.

The Blue Devils advance to face North Carolina in the ACC Championship Game on Sunday. The Hokies fall to 21-11 and now must sweat it out on Selection Sunday. Many felt their quarterfinal win over Florida State was enough to get them into the field, but that remains to be seen.
