Maryland Vs. Virginia: Terps Lose Regular Season Finale To Cavaliers

The Maryland Terrapins ended a disappointing regular season with another disappointing loss, as they fell to the Virginia Cavaliers 74-60.

For the Terps, it was the same old story. While Jordan Williams and Dino Gregory (who has had a fine senior season) were able to get into double figures, Maryland could not rely on secondary scorers to get the job done when they needed it.

What's more disconcerting is that despite it being Senior Day, the Terps two senior guards, Cliff Tucker and Adrian Bowie, combined for just 10 points on the day.  One could argue that the lack of senior leadership really hurt the Terps this year, as they were unable to kick it into extra gear when times were tough.

With this loss, Maryland finishes 7-9 in the ACC regular season, and head into the conference tournament with a chance to be either the 7th or 8th seed, depending on the result of the Miami at Georgia Tech game.

Gary Williams knows the daunting task that his team faces going into the tournament. Its quite simple: win the ACC title or go to the NIT. And if the Terps play the way they did this afternoon in the conference tournament, then the Terps fans already know which tournament they will see this team playing in come Selection Sunday.
