2011 NFL Draft Results: Torrey Smith Selected By Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens decided to stay local in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. They selected wide receiver Torrey Smith of the Maryland Terrapins with the 58th overall pick.

Smith was one of the biggest reasons that the Terrapins were in the hunt for a spot in the ACC Championship Game. He caught a team-high 1,055 yards and 12 touchdowns in his junior season in 2010, finishing his college career with a total of 2,218 yards and 19 touchdowns.

The 6'-1" Smith was one of the most impressive players at the 2011 NFL Combine, running a 4.43 40-yard dash, ranking near the top of all wide receivers. He was also the top overall performer at the Combine in the vertical jump contest.

Some mock draft experts like Mel Kiper Jr. had Smith going to the Washington Redskins in the second round, but instead he'll be playing for a different team with a stadium in Maryland, just 40 minutes north in Baltimore.
