Many of the rankings for the upcoming EA Sports NCAA Football '12 video game have been leaked, thanks to the work of Tradition Sports Online. Maryland came in at No. 40 on the list overall, sandwiched between Hawaii and Tennessee. It's rankings based on which team makes most sense to start a dynasty with, so the grades may not add up perfectly. Well, at least that's my best guess as to why Maryland is behind Hawaii despite higher grades in every category.
↵Six ACC teams come in ahead of Maryland on the list. Those teams: Florida State (10), Virginia Tech (17), North Carolina State (24), Clemson (32) and Miami (34). Maryland pretty much defines average, checking in with a B+ on offense, B on defense and B on special teams.
↵The most interesting part is this "prestige" ranking, which is supposed to measure how desirable a program is to coaches and recruits. Maryland is given a 3, which is the exact same mark given for Connecticut, Randy Edsall's old school. It's also the same mark as (and we're cherrypicking a bit) Central Florida, Tulsa, Northwestern, Air Force, Houston, East Carolina, Virginia, Navy and SMU, among many others.
