ACC Football Kickoff 2011: Maryland Picked To Finish Fifth In Atlantic Division

On Day 1 of the 2011 ACC Football Kickoff, Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien said the expectations for his team are "ACC title or bust." It looks like the media voters have predicted "bust" for the Terps. Despite returning most of its key players from a 9-4 team in 2010, the Terps are picked to finish fifth in the ACC's Atlantic division in the ACC football media poll.

Florida State was the runaway pick to finish first in the division, and was also picked to win the ACC crown as a whole by most people. Clemson was picked to finish second, followed by North Carolina State. In a mild surprise, the media poll predicted Boston College to finish ahead of Maryland in fourth place. One voter actually picked Boston College to win the entire ACC.

As for other awards, O'Brien received the fifth-most votes for ACC Player of the Year. Boston College's Montel Harris received the most votes for that award.
