The field for the 2011 BB&T Classic has been set, and it features stern tests for hosts Maryland and George Washington. The Terps have a matchup scheduled against Big East power Notre Dame, while George Washington will face Virginia Commonwealth, last year's Cinderella Final Four participant. The games will take place on December 4.
A third game was originally supposed to pit Virginia Tech against Temple, but that has been removed from the schedule after Temple decided to pull out.
The times for the two games have yet to be announced, but George Washington and VCU will likely begin the festivities, with Maryland and Notre Dame following. VCU will lose much of their 2011 Final Four team, but are still a force, led by Shaka Smart. Notre Dame, meanwhile, was a No. 2 seed in last year's NCAA Tournament, and will always be a strong team with Mike Brey in charge. Maryland and George Washington, meanwhile, will both be working in new coaches for the tournament.
