This game could not be going worse for the Maryland Terrapins. We're not even done with the first quarter, and the Terps already trail Temple, 21-0, at home. Bernard Pierce has three tochdowns in the first 10 minutes and 20 seconds of the game.
The Owls scored a second time when they drove the ball down the field on a drive that eventually led to a nine-yard run by Pierce. Then, after Maryland finally got a first down, the Owls blocked the punt attempt, getting the ball back inside the Terps' 10-yard line. It was the first time Maryland had a punt blocked since 1999. Three plays later, Pierce caught a difficult option pitch and raced into the right corner of the end zone for the touchdown.
