Temple Vs. Maryland: Randy Edsall, Terps Players React Following 38-7 Loss To Temple

COLLEGE PARK, Md - The Maryland Terrapins just suffered a pretty embarrassing loss at home. They got knocked around to the tune of 38-7 by the Temple Owls, a scoring margin few would have predicted for today. Here is some reaction from coach Radndy Edsall and some of the players.

Randy Edsall:

On the game: "There is no need to sugarcoat things, we got our butts kicked today I guess I didn't get my message across this week about how physical it was going to be. I have to do a better job of letting them know exactly what they are going to be up against. To me there was no life and energy out there. We will address it, get better, and move forward."

On what he is going to take from the loss: "This was an experience that I am not happy with and do not want to experience again. No one said this was going to be easy. There are lessons you learn and things have to be learned. You find out a lot about your team in games like this. You find out who are the guys who will lay it on the line when the going gets tough. We won't use any excuses. We got our butts kicked, pure and simple. I don't care if a freshman is out there, or it's a junior or senior. Whoever is out there, t's their duty to play as hard as they can for every play they are out there. Same goes for me and the coaches. We have to coach hard for every play of the entire game. That is the expectation and we didn't have it today.

Davin Megget:

On the final score: "We didn't play well. Any time you expect to play better and you don't, there's always a sense of embarrassment. I think there is more in the fact we didn't play well, which was more embarrassing."

On the changes they need to make: "We just need to play better and find it in ourselves to come out an play better. What we did was not anything near where we want to be. We only get a few opportunities to come out and play and we need to come out and play next week."

Joe Vellano:

On the game: "We just need to come out and practice better, obviously. We only have three days to prepare for our opponent, and three days isn't much. Overall, special teams and offense and as a whole, we need to get better."

Kenny Tate:

On the game: "We didn't come out and play from the beginning. They didn't do anything special. We knew that they were going to run the ball. They came out and gave it to us. We didn't step up today."
