Miami Vs. Maryland, First Quarter: Terps Score On Opening Drive Of Season, Lead Hurricanes 7-0

The Maryland Terrapins, wearing fresh duds that will be talked about for days, began their season in impressive fashion, driving 79 yards in 11 plays on their opening drive and scoring a touchdown on a 10-yard Danny O'Brien toss to wide out Ronnie Tyler.

O'Brien was six for seven on the opening series, throwing for 72 yards and the touchdown. Running back Davin Meggett added three carries for 12 yards, and Tyler chipped in two catches for 22 yards and the score. Overall, it was beautiful execution of new playcaller Gary Crowton's inaugural offensive series.

O'Brien did end the Terps second series with an ill-advised throw into the end zone that was picked off, but the Maryland defense answered with a strip sack of Miami quarterback Stephen Morris that was recovered by Terps' defensive lineman Joe Vellano.

All in all, a terrific start to the season for Maryland and new head man Randy Edsall. And did I mention those uniforms?
