Miami Vs. Maryland: Despite Red Zone Struggles, Terps Lead Hurricanes 23-21 After Third Quarter

The Maryland Terrapins have made five trips into the red zone in their season opener, and have left with just 16 points. A 14 play third quarter drive was the lastest example of their futility, as it yielded the third Nick Ferrara field goal of the game rather than a touchdown and seven points. The Terps still manage to hold a slim lead over Miami after three, 23-21.

Stephen Morris and the Hurricanes, decimated as their team may be, are looking to spoil Maryland's opener, and came out strong to start the second half, scoring a touchdown after a nine play, 62-yard drive. Morris, 10 of 13 on the day for 143 yards, scored on the ground from five yards out.

Maryland defensive lineman Isaiah Ross had to leave the the game with a possible left leg injury in the third quarter. The team has yet to release a report on Ross' condition.
