Maryland Vs. Virginia Tech: Terrapins Hold Off Late Charge, Win

Despite a late Virginia Tech charge in the second half, Maryland was able to hold on for a 69-66 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Comcast Center.

The Hokies (12-9, 1-5 ACC) trailed 32-19 at the half but outscored the Terrapins (13-7, 3-3 ACC) by 10 in the second half. Maryland's big early lead proved just a little too much to overcome, however, and Virginia Tech ran out of time.

Terrell Stoglin was the star for the Terps. He finished with 28 points on 9-21 shooting to go with five rebounds in the win. Sean Mosley cracked double figures, too, with 15 points and three steals on the afternoon while Ashton Pankey just missed a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.

Maryland shot a robust 46.8 percent from the field, including 7-17 from beyond the 3-point line, though 16 turnovers helped keep Virginia Tech in the game.

The Terps will look to jump over the .500 mark in ACC play on Wednesday when they travel to MIami for an 8 p.m. tipoff in Coral Gables.
