Before he flamed out at New Mexico,Mike Locksley was known as one of the best college football recruiters in the nation and that's a big reason he was re-hired by the Maryland Terrapins this season.
And while he's only been on the job for a few weeks, Locksley is already paying dividends in that field.
Indeed, Locksley has made an immediate impact by taking the lead in the recruitment of tailback Wes Brown from Good Counsel in Olney, Md. Brown, a consensus four-star prospect, committed to Maryland while playing in the Under Armour All-American Bowl on Jan. 5 and is considered the prized catch of Edsall's first full recruiting class.
Locksley kept his Maryland/D.C. ties even when he was in New Mexico, where he had multiple players from the Maryland-D.C. area on the roster. One of them, safety Zach Dancel, announced earlier this month that he is transferring to Maryland.
