Maryland Football Recruiting: Good Counsel RB Wes Brown Announcing Decision Thursday, Terps In Mix

The Maryland Terrapins could be on the verge of securing a big and important football commitment. Good Counsel running back Wes Brown, a four-star local recruit, is expected to announce his final decision at the Under Armour All-American Game on Thursday night. Several insiders believe that Maryland has emerged as a favorite to land Brown, according to Josh Barr of the Washington Post.

Nothing will be decided until Thursday night, of course, but the Terps raised some eyebrows when they secured a commitment from Brown's high school teammate, tight end Zach Dancel, on Wednesday. Now, even Rivals predicts that Brown will sign with the Terps.

SB Nation's Terps blog Testudo Times explained the significance of Brown signing with Maryland.

Which, of course, would be a massive development. He'd be Maryland's first top-250 commitment (Rivals' ranking) since Titus Till in the 2010 class, and would almost certainly challenge for playing time at running back from Day One. Even more significantly, he'd be that all-important first domino in Maryland's recruiting finish, the local stud who could potentially parlay into more local studs. Could it be that the "everyone stay home" campaign we've been so long awaiting is finally here? Well ... maybe. I guess we're about to find out.

Two other locals -- Eddie Goldman and Ronald Darby -- will also be playing in the game, which is at 7:30 on ESPN.
