Randy Edsall and the University of Maryland football team got a huge boost Thursday night, winning the recruiting battle for Good Counsel four star running back Wes Brown. Brown announced his intention to play at Maryland on ESPN at the Under Armour All-American game at Tropicana Field.
The hiring of assistant coach Mike Locksley, a reputed ace recruiter in the DC area, played a huge role in Brown's commitment to continue his career in College Park. Brown had been considering Vanderbilt, Colorado, and Miami until Locksley and the Terps made a late push. Locksley, along with the transfer-in of Brown's close friend and adopted brother Zach Dancel, dramatically changed the circumstances as the calendar turned to 2012.
When prompted by Dari Nowkah on Thursday night's broadcast, Brown said that Maryland's high-profile uniforms had nothing to do with his committment. He did say the support in the Maryland area and being close to his mother played a huge part in his preference to play for the Terps.
