College Football Rankings, Week 9 Top 25: South Carolina falls as rest of top 10 hold strong

South Carolina was the only team to fall out of the AP top 10 after losing to No. 3 Florida. The Gators are still ranked third behind No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Oregon.

The top teams in the AP Top 25 poll remained largely the same this week, with only one team, the South Carolina Gamecocks, falling out of the top 10.

The Alabama Crimson Tide, Oregon Ducks and Florida Gators remained the top three teams in the country. Florida picked up a first-place vote with its win over South Carolina, and Alabama received the 59 other first-place votes.

The No. 4 Kansas State Wildcats and No. 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish round out the top five. The LSU Tigers are the highest-ranked one-loss team at No. 6.

The 6-1 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs were the only new team to enter the rankings this week at No. 24 after a 70-28 victory over the Idaho Vandals.

Next week's schedule could provide more changes as Week 9 will be highlighted by two matchups between ranked teams. No. 5 Notre Dame will go on the road to face the Oklahoma Sooners who jumped two spots up to No. 8 this week. No. 3 Florida will be tested by SEC rival the No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs.

None of the DC area's teams received votes in the latest poll, with Maryland, Virginia and Virginia Tech all losing in Week 8.
