Maryland vs. Clemson Scoring Update: Clemson Leads 21-0, Maryland Overmatched After First

We're through one quarter in College Park, and Clemson has more touchdowns than Maryland has first downs. The Tigers lead 21-0 in what has been an uncontested drubbing thus far.

After the teams traded punts (Maryland even got a first down!), Clemson's offense drove down the field easily. Tajh Boyd completed an 11-yard pass to Sammy Watkins to start out the drive, and after an incomplete pass, Roderick McDowell ran for four yards. Boyd then completed a short pass to Watkins that went for 20 yards, and three plays later he found Adam Humphries over the middle for a 13-yard score. It was Humphries' first career touchdown reception, and the Tigers took a 7-0 lead.

On Maryland's next drive, Shawn Petty rolled out to the left side and the ball simply fell out of his hands as he wound back to throw. Corey Crawford scooped it up and ran into the end zone for a 16-yard score, making it 14-0 Tigers.

After a three-and-out for Maryland, the Tigers got the ball back. Andre Ellington ran for one yard, and then Tajh Boyd fumbled, with Joe Vellano recovering. Brandon Ross ran for 16 yards, getting Maryland into Clemson territory, but Shawn Petty fumbled on the next play, giving the Tigers the ball back.

Clemson was able to score again off that turnover, albeit not as quickly as the first time. After Ellington ran for two yards and Boyd had an incomplete pass, Boyd found DeAndre Hopkins for 12 yards. Three plays later on third-and-one, Boyd was able to sneak through for a first down on the ground, and then found DeAndre Hopkins in the end zone on an absolutely perfect throw for a 28-yard score. Clemson led 21-0.
