Maryland football players Justus Pickett and Makinton Dorleant will be leaving the University of Maryland at the end of the fall semester, according an announcement by a team spokesperson on Monday afternoon.
Pickett was granted his release by the school so that he could return home to North Carolina to attend to a family matter. He was given a full withdrawal. Of Maryland's four running backs, he was the only one who played in all 12 games this season. He also played in all 12 games in 2011, as well.
Dorleant appears to be transferring to the University of Northern Iowa to join the Panthers. While an official announcement has yet to be released by the team, Dorleant posted an update on his Twitter page that expressed his excitement to join the team.
Dorleant only played in three games this past season. The freshman defensive back recorded two solo tackles and compiled four total tackles over that span.
