The Maryland men's basketball team broke some bad news Friday evening as it prepared to head down to Tobacco Road to take on the No. 9 Duke Blue Devils. From Eric Prisbell of The Washington Post's Terrapins Insider blog:
Mark Turgeon says
#Terps guard Pe'Shon Howard has a torn ACL, will require six months of recovery. More to come.
Prisbell's Post colleague Liz Clarke added the following detail.
MD starting point guard Pe'Shon Howard expected to miss rest of season after tearing ACL in right knee in practice Thursday. Huge setback.
It's a blow for the sophomore, who was averaging nearly 33 minutes per game this season for Mark Turgeon. It also puts that much more pressure on Terrell Stoglin, who will have even more of a burden to bear as Maryland's primary scorer and ball-handler. Saturday's game tips off at 4 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN.
