Danny O'Brien Will Not Be Cleared To Transfer To Vanderbilt, According To Report

More: Edsall - 'O'Brien not committed to our program, not all in.'

According to Eric Prisbell of the Washington Post, Danny O'Brien will not be permitted to transfer to Vanderbilt if that is his choice.

Maryland Coach Randy Edsall would not release Danny O'Brien to transfer to Vanderbilt, according to individual familiar with the talks.

Part of the reason why Edsall could be blocking this potential move is because James Franklin, the head coach at Vanderbilt, was the offensive coordinator at Maryland before Edsall took over last year.

The Baltimore Sun's Jeff Barker also tweeted from his account.

Maryland source says Danny O'Brien was not cleared to transfer to Vanderbilt, although he was given general release

Even though cases like this are not entirely uncommon in college football, this decision reflects very poorly on Edsall when he has had a year where everything went awry. He could certainly use some good PR given the fact that local media was grilling him recently but this doesn't seem to help.
