Danny O'Brien To Transfer To Wisconsin

Former Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien will transfer to the University of Wisconsin. O'Brien picked the Badgers over Penn State and Ole Miss. The news was first reported by Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel Badgers Blog and later confirmed by the university in a statement.

O'Brien seemed to have been blown away by his visit to the Wisconsin campus and really connected with Badgers head coach Bert Bielema and new offensive coordinator Matt Canada. A transfer like this helps the Badgers as they currently only have two healthy quarterbacks on their roster during spring practice.

Because O'Brien is on track to graduate early from the University of Maryland, he will be eligible to play right away for the Badgers and has two years of eligibility remaining. This is not the first time Wisconsin has benefited from this rule, last year quarterback Russell Wilson transferred to the Badgers and played right away, leading the Badgers to a Big 10 championship and a trip to the Rose Bowl.
