Virginia Vs. Maryland Recap: Terps End Season With Overtime Loss To Cavaliers

The Maryland Terrapins finished their season on Sunday afternoon in College Park with a 75-72 overtime loss to Virginia. Maryland mounted a strong second-half comeback but could not match UVA in the extra session. The Terps end with a 6-10 record in the ACC in Mark Turgeon's first season, dropping four of their final five games and slotted as the eight seed in the ACC tournament.

This game featured two of the conference's top scorers in Terrell Stoglin and Mike Scott. Unfortunately for the Terps, Scott got the better of the matchup, finishing with a game-high 35 points while also grabbing 11 rebounds. The Cavs squandered a win in their last game against Florida State, and their leader Scott appeared determined to do all he could to put UVA on the winning track heading into the postseason.

Stoglin, on the other hand, led the Terps with 25 points but it took 24 shots to get there. He hit five three-pointers but was just eight of 24 from the field. He did step it up in the final minutes and the extra session, including a three-pointer with seven seconds remaining which sent it to overtime. In his final home game, Sean Mosley put up a double-double, leading Maryland with 10 boards while scoring 17 points. But the Terps' second half comeback would fall short, finishing the regular season at 16-14.
