The ACC/Big Ten Challenge pairings for the 2012-13 Men's Basketball season were announced on Monday. The Maryland Terrapins will travel to play the Northwestern Wildcats on November 27.
The Terrapins are 9-4 in the Challenge, 3-1 on the road. The Wildcats are 6-7 in the Challenge with a 4-2 home record. The Terrapins will have a very young team so this will be an early regular season test for the Terrapins.
The Virginia Cavaliers will also travel for their game in the Challenge, playing the Wisconsin Badgers in Madison on November 28. The Cavaliers, 7-5 in the Challenge, are coming off their best season in recent years, having reached the NCAA Tournament last year. A game against Wisconsin, 6-7 in the Challenge, does have the potential to give the Cavaliers an early statement win, much like their victory over the Michigan Wolverines last season.
The Virginia Tech Hokies, 2-5 in the Challenge, with new coach James Johnson will be the only area team to host a Challenge game as they will play the Iowa Hawkeyes, 2-9 in the Challenge, on November 27 in Blacksburg.
