Almost two weeks after being denied eligibility by the NCAA to play at The University of Maryland, Sam Cassell Jr. has decided to attend junior college the Baltimore Sun's Jeff Baker is reporting. The son of former NBA player and current Washington Wizards assistant coach Sam Cassell will play for Chipola College (FL) says JUCORecruiting.com.
Cassell Jr. was going to be an incoming freshman for the Terrapins this season but six of his courses at Notre Dame Prep (MA.) were made invalid by the NCAA. This made Cassell a partial qualifier which Maryland does not accept. The Terrapins appealed the decisions, however, it was denied by the NCAA on Sept. 14.
At Chipola, Cassell Jr. will join former high school teammate and Xavier Musketeers commit Chris Thomas, who's courses were also deemed invalidated by the NCAA. If Cassell get his grades up, it's still unclear if he will transfer to Maryland.
