According to the team, the necessary paperwork has come through and Pablo Hernandez will be available to make his club debut tonight as D.C. United hosts the Seattle Sounders at RFK Stadium.

Pablo Hernandez has received his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and will be available for selection tonight against Seattle. Both of United's most recent signings - Hernandez and Branko Boskovic - are now set to go and may very well make their MLS debuts this evening.

There had been a hold up in Hernandez's international transfer, which left his eligibility for tonight's game in doubt. Hernandez has been training with United for a few weeks, so there shouldn't be any rust if he does get to play.

SB Nation's United blog Black and Red United has a comprehensive breakdown of the team's decision to sign Pablo Hernandez here. While the positives and negatives are both taken into account, the main point is that this decision could determine whether general manager Dave Kasper keeps his job.

There are, however, reasons United fans might not be very optimistic about this. Those reasons can be summed up briefly as Donnet, Carvallo, Martinez, Peralta, Niell, and Gallardo. This club has had a terrible run of signing players from CONMEBOL leagues (especially Argentines). In Donnet's case, it was just the wrong formation. Everyone else, though, was either not good enough, disinterested, injured, or some combination of all three. These players generally cost more than most, and we all know about how tight MLS's salary cap is. Botching this many signings has left fans with little faith in general manager Dave Kasper, who appears to be the least popular person attached to United amongst fans. Even if Boskovic was mostly scouted by Chad Ashton (couldn't find the link to the article that said that...if someone can help me out in the comments, I'd be much obliged), the players coming in for this window will probably be Kasper's last chance to keep his job.

D.C. United have announced that the club has signed Argentine forward Pablo Hernandez, who last played with Club Defensor Sporting in the Uruguayan First Division. Hernandez will likely already know the system because he has been training with the team for three weeks already.

The 23-year old scored three goals while appearing in 11 games for his club last year.

"Pablo is a talented young striker with a big upside and we are excited to welcome him to our team," said United General Manager Dave Kasper. "He is a very technical player with great athletic qualities who makes things happen around the goal."

Hernandez will join the team as soon as the club receives confirmation of his international transfer, and he gets a new visa. More on the signing as it becomes available.
