Earlier this morning, a report by Jason Reid of the Washington Post indicated that DeAngelo Hall and Jim Haslett had a "contentious exchange" over coverage schemes in the Redskins' 27-24 loss to the Colts on Sunday. The story was believable in part because Hall and Haslett had a disagreement of sorts earlier in the season.

However, when asked about the report today, both player and coach denied it.

Hall's comments, via 106.7 The Fan's Sky Kerstein:

#Redskins Hall said they discussed stuff, but wasn't like what was written, they just talked normally

"I would never get in an argument w a player. If i had a problem, I'd take him aside privately."

Haslett did confirm that Hall's back is bothering him, at least. These kind of responses shouldn't be surprising when the truth of the story rests on how heated the argument may have been. Obviously, it depends on who was listening, so Hall's and Haslett's definition of "heated" could very easily differ from Reid's sources' definition.

We all know that DeAngelo Hall isn't afraid to speak his mind about how he believes he should be deployed. After the Redskins' Week 2 loss to the Houston Texans, he took issue to the team's coverage scheme on Andre Johnson on the play where Johnson caught the game-tying touchdown.

Now, he's apparently upset again. Jason Reid of the Washington Post is reporting that Hall and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett got into a "contentious exchange" on Tuesday over coverage schemes during the team's loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night.

The argument centered on Hall's feeling that he was receiving mixed signals on how to play a certain pass coverage, according to two of those three employees. But Hall and Haslett have a good relationship and there should be no lingering animosity as a result, the employees said.

Reid reports that the disagreement does not have to do with the 57-yard touchdown Hall surrendered to Indianapolis' Pierre Garcon in the first quarter of the game, because Hall acknowledged he blew that one. Rather, it had to do more generally with mixed coverage signals Hall felt he was receiving from Haslett and defensive backs coach Bob Slowik. Hall is also reportedly dealing with a back injury and has been skeptical of the Redskins' diagnosis.

Coach Mike Shanahan reportedly met privately with Hall yesterday before signaling him out in a team meeting while trying to stress the importance of proper communication with coaches about injuries.
