The Washington Wizards kept their game with the Miami Heat close through the first half, which may have come as a surprise considering they were without John Wall. By the second half, however, there was no surprise when the Heat caught fire and defeated the Wizards 105-94.

LeBron James, who has had several memorable games against the Wizards, led all scorers with 30 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Dwayne Wade scored 26 points, with 22 of them coming in the second half. Chris Bosh, the final member of "Miami Thrice," added 20 points.

The Wizards found themselves down by only eight points at halftime, but could never get close enough to threaten the Heat. The Wizards also didn't score their first field goal of the fourth quarter until about five minutes in.

Andray Blatche had a team-high 26 points for the Wizards followed by Gilbert Arenas' 23 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Nick Young scored 13 points and JaVale McGee, who played despite an injured back from being on the receiving end of a flagrant foul last week, had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Speaking of flagrant fouls, there was controversy near the end of the third quarter when Hilton Armstrong fouled Joel Anthony as he went up for a slam dunk. It looked as if Armstrong pushed Anthony, who hit the floor hard. Armstrong ran to Anthony's aid, but Juwan Howard pushed him violently. There were words exchanged, but no physical violence. The referees gave Armstrong a flagrant foul 2, which is an automatic ejection and could be a suspendible offense. Howard received a technical foul.

Dwayne Wade's scoring troubles are over. And that is trouble for the Wizards. The Miami Heat take a 80-69 lead into the fourth quarter.

Wade scored 15 points in the third quarter after only scoring four in the first half. LeBron James has 25 points to lead all scorers. Andray Blatche and GIlbert Arenas continue to pace the Wizards with 20 points each. Nick Young has 11 points and JaVale McGee has 10 points.

The Miami Heat found their scoring touch in the second quarter, but the Washington Wizards didn't flinch and only trail 52-44 at halftime.

LeBron James leads all scorers with 20 points on six-of-nine shooting. Chris Bosh has 13 points, but Dwayne Wade only had four as his scoring struggles continue. On the Washington side, Andray Blatche has 15 points and Gilbert Arenas had 14 points, combining for all but 15 of Washington's points. The Wizards are struggling to find secondary scoring without John Wall, who is in street clothes while nursing a knee injury. Meanwhile, JaVale McGee, playing with an injured back, has six points to round out the top scorers for the Wizards.

The Wizards are shooting 42% from the field compared to the Heat's 49%. The biggest discrepancy on the scoresheet is on the free throw line. Washington is shooting six-of-10, but the Wizards' 17 team fouls has given the Heat 13 more chances from the charity stripe, where they have hit 17 of them.

The Washington Wizards are off to a cold start, but luckily for them, the Miami Heat were anything but until the end of the first quarter as Miami leads Washington 24-21 after one quarter.

The Wizards held their own without John Wall, who is sitting out tonight's game with a knee injury. Andray Blatche and Gilbert Arenas combined for 16 of the Wizards' 21 points. Nick Young, Kirk Hinrich and Alonzo Gee combined to score the other five.

LeBron James, who has plenty of experience defeating the Wizards, led the Heat with nine points. The other two members of the triumvirate, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade, each had four.

Both teams struggled shooting from the field, combining to shoot 16-34. In what was a perfect sample of the first quarter, Dwayne Wade pump-faked JaVale McGee to get an uncontested layup, but missed the shot.

The Washington Wizards expected to play tonight's game against the Miami Heat without John Wall and JaVale McGee. While Wall sitting out is always bad news for the Wizards, not all hope is lost. Via The Washington Post's Michael Lee, McGee will play tonight, but not start.

Wall will miss his sixth game of the season with a bruised right knee. Wall missed Saturday's game against the Orlando Magic after hurting his knee in last Tuesday's victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. Wall missed four games earlier this season with a sprained left foot.

McGee hurt his back against Philadelphia when Elton Brand pushed him as he went for an uncontested dunk. Brand was ejected from the game and subsequently suspended for his flagrant foul.

In other injury news, Yi Jianlian could return to practice Wednesday as he recovers from a knee injury that has kept him out of several games this season.

The Miami Heat come into tonight's game against the Washington Wizards in total disarray. They are just 9-8 on the season, a massive disappointment. They are beginning to point fingers, mostly at head coach Erik Spoelstra. Now, they have to take on the young exciting Washington Wizards.

Okay, I was just making sure you were paying attention. Still, the Wizards have a chance to get a really satisfying first road win of the season tonight. The Heat are struggling and coming apart at the seams. The Wizards have a chance, at least, to deliver a bit of a knockout punch.

Unfortunately for the Wizards, they won't have a full crew of players to do it. John Wall is unlikely to play with his foot injury, and it's possible JaVale McGee won't go either due to a back injury that's gotten worse since Elton Brand shoved him in Tuesday's win over Philadelphia. Those two potentially join an already long list of injured Wizards that includes starting small forward Al Thornton and backup forward Yi Jianlian. Making matters worse, the Heat are weak at point guard and center, which could have been exploited by Wall and McGee.

Alas, Gilbert Arenas will have to turn back the clock once again to give the Wizards a shot. He was outstanding against the Magic on Saturday night, and will have to be again.

The Washington Wizards already will take on the Miami Heat tonight with a less than full roster, since point guard John Wall is unlikely to play with a foot injury. Now, however, things have potentially gotten worse. Coach Flip Saunders said after shootaround that JaVale McGee may miss the game with a back injury.

McGee didn't participate in the Wizards morning walkthrough and remains questionable for the game against the Miami Heat on Monday after waking up with unbearable pain in his back and head. While the Wizards were preparing for the Heat, McGee and assistant athletic trainer Corey Bennett were visiting with a doctor.

"It's from the fall from Brand," Coach Flip Saunders said about McGee's injuries. "His back's been bothering him. Every now and then, it kind of kicks up. It was sore here the last few days and this morning, when he got in, he was in excruciating pain, with back and his head and he sort of had the sweats. We kept him back."

"The fall from Brand" refers to this play last Tuesday, when Philadelphia 76ers center Elton Brand shoved McGee on a dunk attempt. McGee played through the injury in losses to the Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic this week, which makes this news all the more curious.

McGee would be a huge loss for the Wizards if he cannot play. The third-year center has enjoyed a breakout season thus far, averaging 9.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in 28.6 minutes a game.
