Well, this one took longer than expected, but the Wizards got it done.

The Wizards beat the Sacramento Kings 136-133 in overtime in what was an exhausting game where every time it looked like the Kings were dead, they came right back to life.

Washington held large leads in this game, particularly early. The Wizards were up as many as 20 in the first half, but allowed the Kings to get right back in the game.

The Kings took the lead into halftime, but in the second half, the Wizards assumed control yet again. Shooting guard Nick Young had a huge day, and his career high 43 points paced the Wizards lead in the second half. It looked like the Wizards would simply salt away the final seconds of the game in regulation.

But the Kings started a maddening late game sequence. Washington led the Kings by 6 with 13 seconds left in regulation. But because of missed free throws (including a key miss by Nick Young), turnovers, and the Kings hitting quick shots, Sacramento was able to tie the game and force overtime, much to the frustration of Flip Saunders and Wizards fans.

However, in the overtime, the Wizards were able to finish the job. Point guard John Wall appeared to have an injury early in the period, which forced him to miss the final few minutes of overtime. In his stead, veteran Kirk Hinrich showed why his veteran presence is valuable. Hinrich hit several key shots late in the period and made a huge steal in the final seconds to seal the win for the Wizards.

Five Washington players have double digit point totals, highlighted by Youngs 43. Despite his late injury, Wall finished with 22 points and 9 assists.

After the first half, the Wizards trail the Sacramento Kings in what was a tale of two quarters.

The first quarter was one completely dominated by the Wizards. At one point they had a twenty point advantage and it looked like Washington would be on it's way to a rare blowout of the opposition. The Wizards outscored the Kings 38-19 in the first quarter and Washington was shooting the ball as well as it ever has this season.

The second quarter, however, was a different story. Despite being down by a relatively large margin early, the Kings stormed right back. They outscored the Wizards 37-16 in the second quarter with John Wall's former Kentucky teammate, DeMarcus Cousins, really beginning to assert himself. It was another disappointing stretch for the Wizards in a season full of them.

Nick Young was the leading scorer of the half with 17 points, with Wall, Andray Blatche, and Rashard Lewis chipping in with 8 points a piece.

It goes without saying that the Wizards need to regain their first quarter form if they wish to regain the lead in this game.

Fresh of of their 18th consecutive road loss, the Wizards return home tonight to take on the equally struggling Sacramento Kings.

In their previous game, John Wall was one of two starters to be in double figures, as he scored 16 points and had 11 assists. Kirk Hinrich had 18 points off the bench, but it was still not enough as the Wizards were unable to snap their disappointing road losing streak.

Despite their attempts to end a dubious streak on the road, the Wizards will try and continue a positive one at home. Wall and company will look to win consecutive home games for just the second time this season. Their previous win was a 97-77 rout of the New Jersey Nets late last week.

This game will see the absence of Josh Howard yet again as coach Flip Saunders said he will be out for a week to ten days.
