Final stats aside, this Wizards vs. Grizzlies recap probably could have been published at the end of the third quarter -- or about the time most Wizards fans changed the channel.

The question coming in was whether John Wall and Washington would be energized or drained from its double overtime close call in Oklahoma City on Friday night. The answer was obvious when the Wizards came out flat out of the intermission, en route to a 107-93 loss, consecutive road defeat No. 23.

The Wizards could not control the Grizzlies at all inside. The Grizzlies feasted in the paint, especially the frontline of Darrell Arthur, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. Randolph bullied his way to 24 points and 20 boards (9 offensive). Arthur led the way, springing off the bench for 22 points and 5 rebounds.

Finding positives for the Wizards is more difficult. Washington's offensive attack was balanced if underwhelming -- six players finished with double figures, but none had more than 14 points.

The Wizards now get a day off before suiting up in Dallas on Monday.

The Washington Wizards have allowed the Memphis Grizzlies to create a little separation going into the half. The Grizzlies scored the last four points of the half and lead 59-50.

Just like no one predicted, Darrell Arthur has gone off. The third-year forward from Kansas came off the bench for 17 points (on 7 of 9 shooting), three rebounds and two assists. Zach Randolph has also been able to beast inside, especially with the Wizards missing JaVale McGee due to illness. Randolph has 12 points and nine rebounds.

In general, the Wizards have been allowing Memphis easy chances on defense, and the Grizzlies have taken advantage, shooting 54 percent from the field in the first half.

Nick Young got to the line a couple of times down the stretch in the second quarter and John Wall hit a three with less than a minute to go to keep the game within striking distance. Now we'll see if the Wizards have enough in the tank to fight back into this game.

The Wizards played their best road game of the season in Oklahoma City on Friday, but still fell in double overtime to Kevin Durant and the Thunder. As far as moral victories go, it's tough to look at this is as more than heartbreak city for a Washington club that is now 0-22 on the road and just can't seem to get over the hump and into the win column.

We'll find out Saturday night if the near-miss lifts the Wizards against the Grizzlies or leaves them listless. On the second night of a road back-to-back, Washington will need all the inspiration it can muster following 58 minutes of basketball.

Washington does catch a break with Memphis missing shooting guard O.J. Mayo, who is serving the second game of a 10-game suspension, which resulted from a positive test for DHEA (the same drug that Rashard Lewis tested positive for in 2009).

Still, Memphis has won four of its last five games, and has the added incentive of standing a win shy of the .500 mark at 23-24. The Grizzlies are 13-7 at home.

This game looks like the best chance the Wizards have to get a road win on this trip, as Washington finishes up at Dallas and New Orleans.
