It wasn't easy, but thanks to some strong individual performances from players not named Jordan Williams, the Maryland Terrapins defeated the N.C. State Wolfpack by the score of 87-80.

On a night where Greivis Vasquez' jersey was honored, the Terps responded with a win that may have potentially saved their season.

Although Williams had another strong game (26 points, 8 rebounds), it was a freshmen who stole the show. First year guard Terrell Stoglin tied a career high with 25 points to go along with 9 assists. Add to that a career performance from senior Dino Gregory (career high 18 points and 10 rebounds), and that spells a balanced offensive attack for Maryland.

The game started well for the Terps, as they were able to take a double digit lead early in the half. However, a 14-0 N.C. State run gave the Wolfpack the lead going into halftime. In the second half, Maryland slowly began to take control, picking up the pressure on defense and shooting at a high percentage rate. They were able to protect the ball, something they were unable to during The Wolfpack's 14-0 run in the first half.

This win keeps the Terps' slim postseason hopes alive, and with crucial ACC games against Florida State and North Carolina, they know they cannot afford another loss the rest of the way.

The Maryland Terrapins walk into halftime down 40-38 to the N.C. State Wolfpack.

After an emotional ceremony that saw former Terps guard Greivis Vasquez' jersey hung from the rafters, the game began with the Terps coming out strong. Jordan Williams was on the offensive early, as he scored 15 points at the half. That paced the Terps to a double digit lead the majority of the half.

But despite taking a lead for most of the half, the Terps saw the Wolfpack battle back in the final minutes of the half to take the lead. Forward Scott Wood hit two crucial three pointers late in the half that both tied it and gave N.C. State the lead.

The Terps were able to claw back to back it just a two point affair going into the half, but they know they should not have let the Wolfpack back into this game.

Tonight will be a special night for the Maryland Terrapins, even if their NCAA Tournament chances have been all but crushed.

The Terps will have two special ceremonies tonight when they face the N.C. State Wolfpack. First, they will honor former guard Greivis Vasquez, with his jersey being risen to the rafters, joining the other greats in Maryland hoops history.

Next, the Terps will honor the tenth anniversary of their very first Final Four team from 2001. Familiar faces such as Juan Dixon, Taj Holden and Chris WIlcox are scheduled to take part in the ceremonies.

As for the current team, they know they are not in a good place right now. They head into this game 5-6 in a weak ACC, and after a crushing road loss to Virginia Tech, know that it will take a lot to earn an NCAA Tournament bid. If they are to do so, they will have to find some consistent production from their lackluster senior class. Dino Gregory has been a solid contributor this year, but it will be up to fellow seniors Cliff Tucker and Adrian Bowie to start showing up more consistently if the Terps are to start an improbable run to a tournament appearance.
