Considering the roll that the Georgetown Hoyas have been on as of late, the Cincinnati Bearcats didn't seem like a tough opponent. That assumption turned out to be wrong.

Yancy Gates and Dion Dixon combined for 34 points off of the bench to lead the Bearcats to a 58-46 win over the Hoyas.

Austin Freeman had 19 points to pace the Hoyas, but the rest of Georgetown's starters combined for only 18 points.

After falling down by 10 early, the Hoyas fought back to tie the game at 26-26 at halftime. Yet, the Bearcats clamped down on defense in the second, holding Georgetown to only 20 points and four field goals. A 17-3 run by Cincinnati gave them the lead for good and the Hoyas never got closer than eight the rest of the way.

With the loss, the Hoyas will fall into a tie with Syrcause in the Big East. Those teams will meet Saturday at Verizon Center. Georgetown will attempt to get revenge on the Bearcats March 5. The bigger loss, however, comes by the way of Chris Wright's broken left hand, which he suffered early in the second half. Coach John Thompson III said after the game that there is no timetable for Wright's return.

The Georgetown Hoyas got off to a rough start, but fixed things quickly and are tied 26-26 with the Cincinnati Bearcats at halftime.

Austin Freeman has 15 of Georgetown's 26 points. Nate Lubick, Jason Clark, Julian Vaughn and Chris Wright combined the rest. Rashad Bishoo has six points for the Bearcats.

Cincinnati got off to a 19-8 start midway through the half, but a 18-7 run to close out the first 20 minutes brought Georgetown back into the game.

The Hoyas clawed back despite making only eight field goals in 24 shots. Seven free throws, however, kept the Hoyas in the game. The Bearcats did not attempt a free throw in the first half.

The No. 11 Georgetown Hoyas have been doing plenty of winning lately. Having already matched their Big East win total from last season, the Hoyas will look to expand on that against the Cincinnati Bengals Wednesday at Verizon Center.

Georgetown has won nine of 10 and sits 2.5 games back of No. 4 Pittsburgh in the Big East standings. Cincinnati should prove to be a tough opponent despite the fact that Bearcats have lost 20 straight road games to AP Top 25 teamsĀ Cincinnati has won three of four and will want to improve on its 1-4 record against ranked teams this season.

These two teams will get used to each other; Georgetown will visit Cincinnati in the Big East finale for both teams Match 5,
