The Washington Nationals were no doubt terrified of looking at the scoreboard Monday night in as their pitching and offense could do nothing to stop the Milwaukee Brewers from absolutely dominating them. At the end of the game, when they looked up from the dugout floor to steal a glance of the scoreboard as they disappeared into the visitor's locker room it said 11-3 Brewers.

I doubt anyone would hold it against a Nats fan for feeling a little embarrassed by Monday's performance.

The Brew Crew racked up 12-hits against the Washington pitching staff. Brewers right fielder Corey Hart hit three home runs in the game, two off Nationals southpaw starter Tom Gorzelanny and one off a struggling Doug Slaten. Two of Hart's home runs were two-run shots. Price Fielder also connected with a Gorzelanny pitch and put it over the wall for a solo in the first-inning. Reliever Drew Storen's scoreless-innings streak came to an end at 21 after he gave up three earned runs in the eighth.

The Nationals pitching was bad, but the offense was even worse only scoring three runs the whole game, two of those runs coming in the ninth-inning. Too much to overcome, too late. Michael Morse hit a solo home run in the game while Jerry Hairston Jr. hit an RBI triple and Ian Desmond a RBI double.

The Nationals remain in last place in the NL East with a 21-26 record.

The Washington Nationals continue to have offensive problems Monday, but their pitching has not been much of a help either Monday night as they are down to the Milwaukee Brewers 6-1 going into the sixth. Nationals starter Tom Gorzelanny has been plagued by the long ball.

Gorzelanny has given up two two-run home runs to the Brewers Corey Hart, one in the first-inning and one in the fifth. Price Fielder also got a piece of Gorzelanny in the first-inning by taking him for a solo shot. The Nationals southpaw is obviously having a lot of trouble keeping the ball in the park and it was a problem that plagued him earlier in the season. Gorzelanny also gave up a fifth-inning RBI single to Jonathan Lucroy.

The Nationals offense has once again been not much help as they have only recorded three hits against Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo. Their only run came off a Michael Morse solo shot in the top of the second. Morse has replaced first baseman Adam LaRoche as LaRoche was placed on the 15-Day DL a little before Monday night's game.

The Washington Nationals will look to get back on track when they take on the Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee on Monday night. Washington has lost four of their past five games, with the lone win being a 17-5 blowout victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night. Washington fell, 2-1, to the Orioles on Sunday after a late home run by Vladimir Guerrero provided the winning margin.

Tom Gorzelanny taken the hill for the Nationals looking to improve on his 2-3 record. Gorzelanny has pitched well this season, but like many Nationals pitchers, he has been victimized by poor run support. That's what happened in his last start, a 3-0 loss to the Mets.

Milwaukee, meanwhile, is on a roll, having swept the Colorado Rockies over the weekend. The Brewers have won 11 of 15 after a seven-game losing streak earlier in the season, and will send Yovani Gallardo to the mount looking to improve on his 5-2 record.

Here's the Nationals' lineup.
