Those <strike>lowly</strike> feisty Washington Nationals. They've gone and done it again.

The Nationals have claimed yet another interleague series against an AL team that has had shocking success in interleague games, the Chicago White Sox. Chicago pitcher Philip Humber started Sunday's game with multiple hitless innings and was well in line to win the game, but one of the Nationals' most promising changed that with one swing of his bat and tagged Humber with a 2-1 loss in Chicago. It was the first interleague series loss for the White Sox since 2008.

In the top of the seventh-inning with the score 1-0 White Sox, first baseman Michael Morse drew a walk which created the go-ahead run in the form of second baseman Danny Espinosa. Espinosa took a 1-1 slider deep over the right field wall at U.S. Cellular Field to give the Nationals a one run lead and it was all they would need. Reliever Sean Burnett came in to the game and held off the White Sox, including issuing former Nationals outfielder Adam Dunn his 100th strike out of the season, until closer Drew Storen entered the game in the ninth to shut the door and earn his 19th save of the season.

Starter Livan Hernandez pitched a fantastic game giving up only one run on eight hits. He walked two and stuck out nine. his nine strikeouts was the highest single-game strikeout total he has had since Sept. 26, 2004 when he had nine strike outs against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Nats continue to hold on to third place in the NL East with a 40-38 and are only four games back from the second place Atlanta Braves.

The Washington Nationals have to be beginning to sweat in Chicago. They have played five frames of baseball and have not been able to touch Chicago pitcher Philip Humber. It looks like the offense has not worked itself out of a funk that began on Saturday afternoon which doesn't bode well for starter Livan Hernandez who needs some support as the Nationals are down 1-0 going into the bottom of the fifth-inning.

Hernandez ran into trouble in the third-inning when he gave up a single and then a double that eventually led to Paul Konerko singling in Omar Vizquel for the only run of the game so far.

The only Nationals to reach base Sunday have been Roger Bernadina who took a base after getting hit by a pitch and Danny Espinosa who got a walk out of Humber. In the meantime, the White Sox have record seven hits of their own.

If you are superstitious and think mentioning a no-hitter breaks up the no-hitter, then it might be a good time Nats fans to start saying, "Hey, Philip Humber has a no-hitter going!"

The Washington Nationals a couple weeks ago went with a unique line-up where right fielder Jayson Werth became lead-off hitter and the pitcher batted eighth in the line-up. The switch helped spark an incredible tear of victories for the Nats. On Sunday the Nationals and interim manager John McLaren, in his final game as interim manager as Davey Johnson is expected to take over the team Monday, have decided to go old school.

Center fielder Roger Bernadina returns to the lead-off spot as Werth falls to second in the order. One has to wonder if starting pitcher Livan Hernandez (4-8, 3.97 ERA) would be batting ninth Sunday if it wasn't for interleague play because Hernandez is not too shabby with the bat. Outfielder Laynce Nix will be the designated hitter in place of Hernandez. Infielder Alex Cora will take over shortstop duties for Ian Desmond.

Hernandez will be looking to get the Nationals back on track after they suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday where the offense could only put together two hits. Hernandez is hoping to erase the memory of his last start where he gave up four earned runs on 10 hits in just four innings.

Hernandez, and a reshuffled line-up up against the White Sox and Philip Humber (7-3, 2.90 ERA) for the series win at 2:10 P.M. EST at U.S. Cellular Field.

Nationals Line-Up

1. Roger Bernadina, CF

2. Jayson Werth, RF

3. Ryan Zimmerman, 3B

5. Michael Morse, 1B

6. Danny Espinosa, 2B
