As expected, fullback/tight end Mike Sellers will be ruled out for the Washington Redskins when they take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Sellers suffered a back injury in the weight room earlier in the week, and he is listed as out on the team's official injury report.

After suffering the injury, Sellers spent Thursday night in the hospital. He did not practice on Friay, so it's no surprise that he would not play on Sunday.

Sellers is not a starter anymore, so his absence isn't as huge a loss as it might have been. However, the Redskins do not have a lot of depth at tight end after the loss of Chris Cooley, and Sellers may have been able to help there. Washington also only has two running backs on the 53-man roster, with fullback Darrel Young making three.

Veteran fullback Mike Sellers will remain hospitalized overnight after injuring his back while working out in the Redskins weight room Thursday.

The Washington Redskins will try to snap their two-game losing streak and improve to 4-3 this Sunday in Buffalo with a battered and bruised roster. DeAngelo Hall, Trent Williams and London Fletcher are all nursing injuries that could keep them out against the Bills. Chris Cooley was placed on Injured Reserve earlier this week. And on Thursday, veteran fullback Mike Sellers was taken to the hospital after injuring his back while working out in the team's weight room.

Head coach Mike Shanahan said that Sellers would remain hospitalized overnight for further evaluation and treatment. The seriousness of the injury is unclear at this point, but there's nothing casual about having a slip up while negotiating the volume of weight that NFL players do working out. Hopefully Sellers is able to return to the team in future weeks, but for a 36 year old that is used only sparingly in Washington's current offense, it's not unreasonable to wonder if Sellers has perhaps played his last down of football for the Redskins and perhaps even his career.

With Santana Moss inactive this week with a hand injury, Sellers was the lone player on Washington's 53-man roster to have won a playoff game with the organization. With Sellers' seemingly grave injury, all signs point towards the 'Skins traveling to Orchard Park to play the upstart Bills without a single player whose tasted playoff success.
