<p>After taking just a six-point lead into halftime, the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/teams/georgetown-hoyas">Georgetown Hoyas</a> poured on the points on the American Eagles. American was able to keep the game close in the first half, thanks to the play of guard John Shoof, but the Hoyas were able to go on a run and pull away, leading 48-35 at the first TV timeout. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/52424/henry-sims">Henry Sims</a> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/100003/hollis-thompson">Hollis Thompson</a> continued to score points and pull away in the second half.</p>
<p><a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/123577/markel-starks">Markel Starks</a> lead the Hoyas in scoring for the day, putting up 18 points and connecting on four of six three-point shots. Sims and Thompson had 17 and 15 points respectively, with Thompson adding 8 rebounds. For the Eagles, Chris Hinkle led the way scoring with 16 points. Shoof and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/100868/blake-jolivette">Blake Jolivette</a> added another 12 and 11 points, respectively. In a game that looked close in the first half, the Hoyas were able to put their foot on the gas and pull away to win 81-55.</p>

<p>The Geogetown Hoyas hold a 32-26 lead at halftime over the American Eagles. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/123577/markel-starks">Markel Starks</a> leds the way early for the Hoyas with eleven points. Forward <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/100003/hollis-thompson">Hollis Thompson</a> is also having a nice game, with seven points and five rebounds in the first half. American actually took an early lead thanks to a <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/145020/john-schoof">John Schoof</a> three-pointer.</p>
<p>The teams battled back and forth for the lead, but Starks sank some shots in a row to regain the lead. The Hoyas held onto a tenuous led to the half, but the Eagles are not backing away and have kept the game close. Guard John Shoof led the way for American with 10 points, hitting on two three-point shots. Those are the only three-pointers the Eagles have hit however, sinking just 16.7% of their three-point shots. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/29290/charles-hinkle">Charles Hinkle</a> also added another six points off the bench.</p>

<p>The <a href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/teams/georgetown-hoyas">Georgetown Hoyas</a> (8-1), riding a six game winning streak, welcome the American University Eagles (8-3) to Verizon Center on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas, 43-8 all-time against America, are looking for their eighth straight win over the Eagles.</p>
<p>Georgetown is coming off a rather ugly 62-48 win last Saturday against Howard. The Hoyas shot just 32.7 percent from the floor and almost blew a 17-0 lead.</p>
<p>American had it's eight game winning streak snapped last Saturday in a 66-61 loss to St. Francis (Pa.).</p>
<p><a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/52423/jason-clark">Jason Clark</a> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/100003/hollis-thompson">Hollis Thompson</a> lead the Hoyas, with Clark averaging a team-best 16.2 points per game. Freshman forward <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/145391/otto-porter">Otto Porter</a> will look to build upon his 13 point performance against Howard.</p>

<p>The Georgetown Hoyas welcome the American University Eagles to the Verizon Center Saturday, with the Hoyas seeking their seventh win a row overall, and eighth in a row against American.</p> <p>John Thompson III and his <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/teams/georgetown-hoyas">Georgetown Hoyas</a> (8-1) return to action for the first time in a week when they face the American University Eagles (8-3) at noon Saturday. The Hoyas, 5-0 at home, played one week ago at the Verizon Center, defetaing Howard 62-48.</p>
<p>16th ranked Georgetow is seeking it's seventh win a row overall, and eighth in a row against American. The Hoyas lead the all-time series between the two schools 43-8, winning the most recent matchup in 2009 by the score of 73-46.</p>
<p>Despite the 14 point margin of victory, the Hoyas did not play well against Howard, shooting just 32.7 percent for the game, and almost blew a 17-0 lead. American is coming off a 66-61 loss to St. Francis (Pa.) that ended the Eagles' eight-game winning streak, their longest since winning 13 straight in 2008-09.</p>
