For the Redskins fans who are always upset at the constant disrespect shown to the team's emotional leader, London Fletcher, I have some good news for you on this Monday morning. London Fletcher himself tweeted this earlier today.

Aloha! Officially added to the pro bowl roster today!

— London Fletcher (@LFletcher59) January 9, 2012

We'll take that as the most official kind of word there is, straight from the horse's mouth. It's good that Fletcher made the Pro Bowl this year because it was a pretty big injustice that Brian Urlacher made the team ahead of him. Flethcer led Planet Earth in tackles this year with 166, making him the only player to average ten tackled per game over the 16 game regular season. He also had 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two interceptions. In a career full of Pro Bowl snubs, this might have been the most egregious. But that is rectified now, and the Redskins now have their first representative for the big game in Hawaii.

Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher was among the biggest Pro Bowl 2012 snubs when the rosters were announced on Tuesday, but it looks like he may make the game after all. Fletcher told reporters that he was named as one of the alternates, according to Rick Maese of the Washington Post. Linebacker and special teams ace Lorenzo Alexander was also named an alternate, according to our own Daniel Shiferaw.

Neither player would say whether they were first alternates or second alternates. First alternates would play in the game if one player at their position drops out due to injury. Second alternates would need multiple players to drop out.

Fletcher had a standout season yet again, but was beaten out by Brian Urlacher of the Chicago Bears and Patrick Willis of the San Francisco 49ers. Alexander was beaten out for the special teams spot by Corey Graham, who also plays for the Bears.

The Washington Redskins will not be represented by anyone at the 2012 Pro Bowl, but many feel that linebacker London Fletcher should have been given that right. You can add Matt Bowen of National Football Post to that long list, as Fletcher tops Bowen's list of 2012 Pro Bowl snubs.

The Redskins’ MLB is productive, accountable and continues to play the Mike Backer position as good as any player in this league. 193 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 INTs and 3 forced fumbles. Those are Pro Bowl numbers for a player that stands out each and every time you turn on the tape. No question I would have selected Fletcher over the Bears’ Brian Urlacher.

Several teammates and media members came to Fletcher's defense on Tuesday, saying he belonged in the game. Fletcher's stats are more impressive than Urlacher's, but Urlacher's reputation and the Redskins' losing ways helped contribute to Fletcher's snub.

While the Washington Redskins may have failed to place anyone in the 2012 Pro Bowl, a few former Skins had their names called when the rosters were announced on Tuesday night. Former Skin Andre Carter, who registered ten sacks this season, was one of eight New England Patriots named to the Pro Bowl. The Pats, along with the San Francisco 49ers, lead the league with eight each. It was Carter's first selection in his 11 year career, with the last five of those seasons coming with Washington.

In addition to Carter, former Redskin and current 49er Carlos Rogers was selected to his first Pro Bowl in his first season away from Washington. Rogers earned the starting cornerback spot in the game alongside Green Bay's Charles Woodson. Rogers is tied for second in the NFC with six interceptions, just one shy of Woodson's league leading mark.

With London Fletcher snubbed yet again, it could be an especially bitter pill to swallow with two former Skins elected to their first Pro Bowl just one season after suiting up in Washington.

It's an annual tradition, and it's befuddling every year. The Pro Bowl rosters get announced, and Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher, despite a standout season, gets snubbed. Fletcher didn't even make the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement until the last couple years, getting passed over for flashier players.

It happened again in 2011, as Fletcher was passed over for Brian Urlacher and Patrick Willis. This time, Fletcher decided to sound off about it.

Fletcher had plenty of support among his teammates and around the league. Detroit Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch reached out directly to tell Fletcher he deserved the honor. Teammate Jarvis Jenkins, though, made the point far better than anyone could.

That pretty much seals it. Brandon Banks, meanwhile, went with a more qualitative approach.

Throw in all the support from local and national media, and it's clear the voters got this wrong. Like Fletcher, I can only laugh. It happens every damn year.

The Washington Redskins' London Fletcher leads the National Football League in tackles this season with 163. That's 18 more than the Cleveland Browns' D'Qwell Jackson who is No. 2 in the league, and 19 than the Minnesota Vikings' Chad Greenway, No. 3 across the league in tackles and No. 2 in the NFC. Fletcher also has two sacks, two interceptions and three forced fumbles.

Fletcher will not be headed to the Pro Bowl, however, and neither will any of his teammates. The 2012 rosters for the game were announced Tuesday and the Redskins were completely shut out.

The Dallas Cowboys' DeMarcus Ware, the Green Bay Packers' Clay Matthews and the Chicago Bears' Lance Briggs were selected to man the outside linebacker spots for the NFL squad while the San Francisco 49ers' Patrick Willis and the Chicago Bears' Brian Urlacher were chosen as middle linebackers.

Fletcher, however, will not be joining them, which must be a tough pill to swallow after racking up as many tackles as he did.

A pair of Redskins should get consideration for a trip to Hawaii.

The NFL will announce the rosters for the Pro Bowl at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and a pair of Washington Redskins players will likely get significant consideration.

Linebacker London Fletcher leads all NFL players with 163 tackles this season and is 18 clear of the Cleveland Browns' D'Qwell Jackson, who is second in the league with 145 tackles. The next closest NFC players is Minnesota Vikings' Chad Greenway, who has 144 tackles on the year. Fletcher also has two sacks, two interceptions and three forced fumbles to his credit this season.

Fletcher, 36, is in his 14th NFL season out of John Carroll and despite his age, the 5-foot-10, 245 pound backer continues to be a key contribute to the Redskins defense.

Fletcher's fellow linebacker, Lorenzo Alexander, will get a look for his special teams contributions.
